Organisers of the premier boutique Rhythm and Blues (R&B) music festival, Sol Blume, has made the announcement for the launch of a new Afrobeat and dancehall festival called ‘Lost in Riddim’, with the inaugural edition set to hold on Saturday October 2 and Sunday October 3, 2021, in Sacramento, California.

Headliners for the festival include 2021 Grammy awards winners, Wizkid and Burna Boy. Other performers expected at the event include Mr Eazi, Tiwa Savage, Rema, Rotimi, Fireboy DML, Amaarae, Oxlande, Ladipoe, Projexx, Koffee, and Tems, among others, who are considered popular music artistes in Africa and across the Caribbean.

While wizkid, Rotimi, Rema, Fireboy DML, Tems, Amaarae, Oxlande, Ladipoe, and Projexx are expected to perform on October 2, Burna Boy, mr Eazi, Tiwa Savage, Koffee, Shenseea, Joeboy, Sho Madjozi, Enisa, WSTRN and Johnny Drille will shut down the city on October 3.

Lost in Riddim was created by Fornati Kumeh and Jehu ‘Manny’ Hunter, both of whom are of African descent and longtime Sacramento residents. Kumeh and Hunter oversee an independent Sacramento-based music promotions company responsible for producing popular concerts and festivals both in Sacramento and across northern California.

In a joint statement, Kumeh and Hunter, said the festival would build upon its tradition of organising festival while also highlighting other popular genres of black and African music, including afrobeats, afro-fusion, dancehall and reggae.

“We created this event not only to showcase some of the most popular international music artistes in the entire world, many of whom have continued to be overlooked by major US music festivals, but also create a unique celebration about the beauty of African culture,” the statement read.

The festival will hold at the historic Cesar Chavez Plaza near downtown Sacramento, which is also home to Sol Blume. Kumeh and Hunter added that while at the Downtown Park, fans should expect an intimate and highly curated festival-going experience with an underlying emphasis on diversity, inclusivity, and creativity.

“The team can’t wait to soon debut a completely unique festival-going experience in Sacramento this fall. Throwing Lost In Riddim in Sacramento was also a no-brainer because not only is this our hometown, but our other festival. Sol Blume has ultimately helped to lay the groundwork for us to expand locally and launch a second concept this fall,” the statement also read.

As a black-owned independent business, Lost in Riddim is proud to present this year’s lineup that is made up mostly of black music artistes, as well as some of the most respected artistes in Africa and across the Caribbean region. The full music lineup along with ticket on-sale information will be announced later this year.
