Wizkid A “Superstar”, ‘Made In Lagos’…. All You Need To Know About His Early Life And Music
Wizkid did not have to put out his 4th studio album “Made In Lagos” to be defined as someone who is actually made in the Centre of Excellence.
While reflecting on his life and career, the Music Megastar speaks on his humble beginning, while growing up in Surulere, a place called Alaba. His house was like “The Fun House” and that’s why he has so many stories to tell. As the last child of the family, he was not the typical spoilt last-child, but he always had his ways.
Growing up in a spiritual family, with parents who practice different religions made him understand that the one true religion is Love. However, he points out that the most important thing to him is Family, and his son, Boluwatife is like his best friend.
Fatherhood, on the other hand, means everything to him, and being a father changed his perspective about his career.
Reflecting on his career, Ayodeji Balogun points out that getting signed with Banky W was one of the most amazing things that ever happened to him and he appreciates Banky for taking him under his wings. His first album “Superstar” was the first step to letting the world know that he is indeed a body of talent; a versatile one at that.
When he was going to do a show at the O2 Arena, he had the option of going in as himself, “Wizkid” but he was not there for himself alone, he was for the culture.
Speaking on the name “Wizkid“, he describes it as a brand and not a name. He disclosed that he makes too much music and had about 5 different folders for “Made In Lagos”, which goes to show how much work he put into the album to make sure it was perfect enough for the consumption of the outside world.
“A Superstar Made in Lagos” celebrates the 10 year anniversary of Wizkid’s debut album – “Superstar“… Enjoy!
